Shed Permits
Permits & Zoning Requirements
Most municipalities and counties require a building permit for sheds, carports, and garages. Process vary by location.
A permit is not required in some cases if the property is zoned AG and the building will be used for agriculture purposes or if the building is below a certain size. Check with your city or county zoning office to veify whether you need a shed permit.
We provide engineer drawings and product approvals for shed permit applications.

Shed Permits — FAQs
Prebuilt Buildings – We need at least one foot of clearance on each side of the building to maneuver a into place.
For example, if your gate is 12 feet wide, the maximum size building is 10 feet wide. Some exceptions may apply. Contact us with questions: info@brickcitybuildings.com
Each community has different permit requirements for sheds, carports, and portable buildings. We do not require customers to obtain a permit to purchase or deliver a building. If they choose not to get a permit, code enforcement generally gives them 30 days to get a permit if a complaint is filed.

Each HOA has different rules for allowing sheds and storage buildings. We can customize sheds and storage buildings to meet your HOA’s requirements, but you will need to talk to your HOA to find out what is allowed in your subdivision. Some HOA’s are easy to work with, and others are more difficult. Some want you to match the house, and others don’t care. Some of their specific requirements include the following:
- Are there certain color requirements?
- Are there stipulations for length, width or height?
- Are there specific regulations for building or door style?
- Regulations for placement: Does it have to be behind the house? Can it be in front?
- Does it need to be behind a privacy fence?
