If you plan to build or place a storage shed in Ocala, it’s important to know the permit requirements and submission process.

All permits are handled by the City of Ocala Building Division, which ensures compliance with local codes.

City of Ocala Shed Permit Information

Adding a shed or accessory structure within the City of Ocala requires a General Construction Permit. A permit is required whether you are building a new shed or replacing an existing shed, carport, or garage.

Property owners may apply for the permit themselves as an owner/builder, or Brick City Buildings can apply on your behalf as the General Contractor. A permit filing fee applies when Brick City Buildings submits the application to cover administrative costs.

Filing a Shed Permit as Owner/Builder

If you choose to apply as an owner/builder, the Owner/Builder Affidavit must be delivered in person to the City of Ocala Building Division, located on the second floor of the City of Ocala Customer Service Center:
